PREVIEW: Gents Soccer Opens Summit League Play at ORU

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's soccer team is looking for its first win of the season as it opens Summit League play on Saturday evening at Oral Roberts with game time slated for 7 pm.

The Gents are 0-4 on the season, but have played two of its four contests within a goal.

Of the four goals scored this season by Centenary, senior Heath Cox paces the team with three, while junior Aaron Bergman registers the other lone goal.

Juniors Marcos Rodriguez, Tate McIntyre and sophomore Adam Ghaemmaghami each have an assist.

Senior goal keeper Rennie Walker has made 16 saves in goal and has played over 315 minutes.

Despite only scoring four goals in four games, the Gents average 9.5 shots per game and have recorded a lofty .632 shot on goal percentage.

Oral Roberts enters Saturday's contest with a record of 2-5 and are 0-2 on their home field. Jarrett Hamilton leads the Golden Eagles with three goals and one assist for seven points.

As a team, Oral Roberts is looking to snap a five-game skid as it opened the season with wins over Central Arkansas and Memphis, but haven't registered a win since Sept. 3.

Centenary and Oral Roberts met last season as the Golden Eagles walked away with a 2-1 road win over the Gents on Oct. 10.

Following Saturday's contest, Centenary will return home to host Western Illinois at 7 pm on Saturday, Oct. 2.
