Saturday, September 25, 2010
ITTA BENA, Miss.-The Centenary women's soccer team was looking to build on its recent success, but came up short, dropping a 2-0 non-conference decision to Mississippi Valley State on Friday evening on the road.

The Ladies (3-5) managed to outshoot the Delta Devils, 15-10, but weren't able to find the back of the net all night.

Junior Laura Immenschuh led Centenary with six total shots, four of which landed on goal. Sophomore Holden Penney and junior Candace Rushing each put up three shots with two saved in goal.

Also firing off a shot were sophomore Kelly Fossard, freshman Destiny Skinner and junior Eren Corapcioglu.

Junior goal keeper Kalyn Harris played all 90 minutes in goal, collecting four saves.

It remained a solid 0-0 stalemate for much of the first half until Mississippi Valley State recorded the first goal at the 42-minute mark just before halftime.

Nearly 10 minutes into the second half, the Delta Devils would score again to go up by two and then managed to hold the Ladies scoreless the remainder of the game.

Centenary had four chances off of corner kicks to MVSU's one, but weren't able to convert any advantage into a goal.

The Ladies will return to action when they travel to Jackson, Miss. to take on Jackson State on Sunday at 2 pm.
