Ladies Soccer Shutout, 4-0, by Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss-The Centenary women's soccer team was held scoreless on Sunday afternoon as Jackson State defeated the Ladies 4-0 in their final non-conference game of the season.

The Ladies (3-6-0) managed to put up 10 shots, but only five landed on goal. Sophomore Holden Penney tallied three shots, one on goal, while senior Kortney Causey recorded two shots on goal.

Junior Erika Rautio added two shots, while junior Candace Rushing and sophomores Allie Cortes and Courtney Cleveland chipped in with one.

Jackson State got the four-goal contest started at the 10-minute mark and held a 1-0 lead through the first half. Centenary wasn't able to respond as the Tigers added three second-half goals to the mix.

Junior goal keeper Kalyn Harris made four stops in goal, but allowed three goals in 72 minutes worth of work. Freshman Haleigh Coffey would play the final 15 minutes, allowing one goal with no saves.

Centenary will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 2 when it hosts Summit League foe, Oral Roberts at 1 pm at Mayo Field.
