PREVIEW: Ladies Soccer Opens Summit League Play at Home

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary women's soccer opens Summit League play on Saturday when it hosts Oral Roberts at 1 pm on Mayo Field.

The Ladies (3-6-0) are looking to snap a two game road skid when facing the Golden Eagles (5-4-0) this weekend. Centenary is coming off of two tough losses to Mississippi Valley State and Jackson State, where they were shutout in both contests.

Leading the way offensively for the Ladies this season is junior Candace Rushing with seven total points on two goals and three assists, while senior Kortney Causey has six points on three goals. Junior goal keeper Kalyn Harris is 3-5 on the season and has recorded 39 saves in nine games played for a .780 save percentage.

Oral Roberts enters with a 5-4 record and is coming off a 3-1 over John Brown last Friday. The Golden Eagles are led on the offensive end by Mary-Kate Halsmer with four goals for eight points, while Whitney Brannan adds three goals and two assists for eight points.

Amanda Wheeler, in goal, has recorded 47 saves for a .783 save percentage and a 5-4 record.

Centenary and Oral Roberts met last season in Tulsa, Okla. as the Golden Eagles secured a 2-0 win over the Ladies.

Following Saturday's contest, Centenary will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 8 when it hosts IPFW at 7 pm on Mayo Field.
