PREVIEW: Gents Soccer Back Home to Host WIU

SHREVEPORT-After spending the last month on the road, the Centenary men's soccer team will return home to host Western Illinois on Saturday in Summit League action. Game time is slated for 7 pm on Mayo Field.

The Gents (0-4-1, 0-0-1 Summit) are still looking for their first win of the season as they recorded their best performance of the season in a 1-1 draw against Oral Roberts last week.

Centenary is led offensively by senior Heath Cox with six total points on a team-best three goals, while juniors Aaron Bergman and Tate McIntyre each have three points on one goal and one assist.

Senior goal keeper Rennie Walker has made 26 saves and compiled a .722 save percentage, but is unfortunately 0-3-1 on the year.

Western Illinois enters Saturday's contest with a record of 2-5-2 and 0-1 in league play after dropping its last two contests to IUPUI and Drake.

The Fighting Leathernecks, offensively, are led by Husref Jupic with five points on two goals and one assist, while Charlie Bales adds four points on one goal and two assists.

Andy Ryan has played all nine contests in goal, compiling 42 saves and a .754 save percentage.

Centenary and Western Illinois met last season in Macomb, Ill. as the Gents dropped a 2-1 decision.

During halftime of Saturday's game, Centenary will recognize Cabosa Soccer.

Following Saturday's league contest, Centenary will remain home to host UMKC on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 7 pm on Mayo Field.
