Saturday, October 2, 2010
SHREVEPORT-Junior Erika Rautio scored her second goal of the season early in the game, but it wasn't enough as Oral Roberts responded with three, taking a 3-1 win over the Ladies on Saturday afternoon in their Summit League opener on Mayo Field.

The Ladies (3-7-0, 0-1 Summit) used a pass by senior Kortney Causey to Rautio to go up 1-0 at the 20-minute mark, but would allow the Golden Eagles (6-4-1, 1-0 Summit) the advantage with three successful shot attempts.

Oral Roberts netted two in the first half, one from the top of the box at the 29-minute mark, off the foot of Whitney Booth and one from inside the box with 31:18 on the clock by Maria Grados.

Down 2-1 heading into halftime, the Ladies would unfortunately surrender another goal early, 54 minutes in by Lauren Parks.

Centenary was outshot 23 to 8 as Oral Roberts fired off 12 second-half shots to the Ladies' two.

The Golden Eagles also recorded nine corner kicks as Centenary would only tally two.

Junior goal keeper Kalyn Harris made six saves in goal, while playing all 90 minutes. Her counterpart, Amanda Wheeler from ORU compiled just two saves in 90 minutes of play.

Off the eight shots Centenary fired off, three landed on goal, led by Rautio with two shots and a goal. Sophomore Holden Penney had three shots, one on goal and junior Candace Rushing added two shots to the mix.

Centenary will return to action next Friday when it hosts IPFW at 7 pm on Mayo Field.
