Gents Golf in 12th After Day One

HUNTSVILLE, Texas-After a competitive two rounds on Monday, the Centenary men's golf team wraps up Day One of play in 12th place at the Harold Funston SHSU Golf Classic with a team total of 605.

The Gents (305-300) was able to trim five strokes off their opening round to finish the day two shots better than Houston Baptist.

Leading the way is freshman Brandon Sledge (76-73) who sits in 39th place with a score of 149.

Behind the freshman is senior Ryan Sparks (81-70) who was a major contributor in the bettering of the team's score as he fires a one-under 70 in the second round to head into Tuesday's round in 46th place with a score of 151.

Senior Greg Berthelot (76-77) recorded a score of 156 to put him in a tie for 54th place, while senior Cannon Earp (76-80, 156) is in a tie for 63rd and sophomore Jay Frazier (77-86, 163) is tied for 71st.

Sam Houston State (278-289) fired a 567 for a first place standing, while Oklahoma City (290-278, 568) is one shot behind in second and Stephen F. Austin (289-283, 572) is in third.

Individually, SFA's Stetson McMillan (68-69) and Tyler JC's Ryan Mulvany (69-68) lead the way with a 36-hole score of 137.

Centenary will continue play on Tuesday with its final round. Shotgun start to begin at 8 am.
