Davis Adds Fontenot to Women's Basketball Staff

SHREVEPORT-Head women's basketball coach Kristen Davis recently announced that Centenary alum, Jennifer Fontenot, will join the Ladies staff as an assistant coach for the 2010-11 season.

Fontenot, a 2008 graduate of Centenary will begin her first full-time college coaching career as she assists with all aspects of Centenary's program including film exchange and on-floor coaching under Davis.

"I'm very excited to have Jennifer join our Centenary women's basketball family.  She is from Louisiana and that will help in our efforts to recruit local talent.  Also, being a Centenary graduate, she is very passionate about seeing this program succeed and do well," said Davis.

Hailing from Welsh, Louisiana, Fontenot returns to Centenary after having spent the last year as an in-home personal trainer. Along with assisting clients in physical fitness, Fontenot also was a middle school basketball coach in the Houston area as well as a varsity track and field coach.

While at Centenary, Fontenot served as the Intramural Director for three years. Her duties included organizing schedules, attending to all injuries and overseeing the program's success.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science from Centenary.

Fontenot has also worked closely with the Shreveport YMCA coaching basketball and is American Red Cross C.P.R and Life Guard certified.

The Centenary women's basketball team will open its season at Sam Houston State on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Noon.
