PREVIEW: Volleyball at Oral Roberts Saturday

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team will continue Summit League play on Saturday when it travels to Tulsa, Okla. to take on league foe, Oral Roberts, at 7 pm in the Mabee Center.

The Ladies (3-13, 0-9 Summit) are still searching for their first league win and are looking to snap an 11-match skid this weekend.

Centenary is coming off a 0-6 road trip with 3-0 losses to both Oakland and IPFW.

Offensively, the Ladies look to junior Stevie Kaye who has compiled 162 kills on a team-best 482 attacks to lead the offense. Sophomore Shelby Singleton follows with 107 kills and has a team-leading .207 attack percentage.

Junior setter Caitlin Neese contributes with 230 assists to lead Centenary, while freshman setter Bethany Nuttall adds 183 to the mix.

On the defensive end, junior Jaclyn Lopez has made 163 digs and paces the team with 3.08 digs per set.

Oral Roberts enters Saturday's contest with a 6-7 overall record and a 4-2 mark in league play. The Golden Grizzlies took a 3-1 win over South Dakota State in their last outing and are looking to build on the momentum.

Leading the way for Oral Roberts, offensively is Tatum Fredeen with 113 kills on 312 attacks. She is followed by Elizabeth McVicker with 111 kills and a squad-best .348 attack percentage.

Setter Laura Taylor has compiled 325 assists, while Olivia Ophus has 14 service aces.

Defensively, Cassidy Holmes has 143 digs, while Ophus has 90 for ORU.

Centenary and Oral Roberts met twice last year as the Golden Eagles took two 3-0 wins over the Ladies.

Following Saturday's contest, Centenary will return to action with a non-conference contest against in-state rival, Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La on Wednesday at 7 pm.
