ORU Hands Centenary 3-0 Defeat on Road

TULSA, Okla.-The Centenary volleyball team faced a hard-hitting Oral Roberts team that managed to hand the Ladies a 3-0 defeat on Saturday evening in Summit League play.

The Ladies fell to 3-14 overall and 0-10 in league play, while ORU improved to 8-10 overall and 6-4 among league foes. The Golden Eagles won 25-12, 25-15, and 25-7.

Centenary struggled offensively, tallying just 14 kills in three sets, while Oral Roberts fired off 47 kills on 90 attack opportunities.

Junior Stevie Kaye led the offense with five kills, while sophomore Shelby Singleton added four. Freshman setter Bethany Nuttall contributed with eight assists.

Defensively, senior Bethany Kern, junior Taylor Gilmour and Kaye each made six digs, while Kaye was involved in both a block solo and block assist with freshman teammate Levita Feaster.

Centenary struggles to keep its attack errors under control as it tallied 17 miscues on the evening, while Oral Roberts had 10 for a .411 attack percentage.

The Ladies will head home to take on non-conference and in-state rival, Northwestern State on Wednesday at 7 pm.
