PREVIEW: Gents Soccer Travels to IUPUI

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's soccer team will gear up for a highly contested game against league leader-IUPUI on Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. with kick off slated to begin at 1 pm CT.

The Gents enter the contest with a 1-5-2 overall record and a 0-1-2 mark in league play and are still playing for a chance at the Summit League tournament.

Coming off an exciting 1-0 win over Houston Baptist last Saturday, Centenary is looking to its senior leadership to add to the win column. The Gents are led offensively by senior Heath Cox with eight points on four goals.

Junior Marcos Rodriguez, who earned the assist in the win, is second-best with four points on one goal and two assists this season.

In goal, senior keeper Rennie Walker has played in all eight games, making 39 saves for a .765 percentage, while sophomore reserve keeper Robbie Ramirez earned the win in goal against HBU and his first shutout.

IUPUI is coming off a 0-0 double-overtime tie to No. 7 Butler on Wednesday and owns a 7-6-1 record and a 3-1 mark in league play, having dropped their only league contest to Oral Roberts, 2-0.

The Jaguar offense is led by Jeff Keyler with 13 points on five goals and three assists, while Perez Agaba follows with 10 points on four goals and two assists.

In goal, IUPUI has relied on Tyler Keever who has made 36 saves for a .735 percentage and Alex Mannen with 20 saves in five games played.

Centenary and IUPUI met once last season as the Jaguars took a 3-2 win over the Gents on Mayo Field.

Following the Saturday contest, Centenary will return home to host IPFW on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 7 pm for the final home game of the season.
