Holden Penney Named Co-Offensive Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill.-Holden Penney of the Centenary women's soccer team captures her first career Offensive Player of the Week honor after leading the Ladies to their first league win of the season with a 2-1 win over UMKC to split the weekend contests.

"This honor is well deserved for Holden. She has continued to work hard at the new position after moving from the defensive end to the forward position," said head coach Glenn Evans.

The sophomore scored the game-winner in the 57th minute and assisted on the Ladies' first goal of the match. She also added an assist on Centenary's first goal in the double-overtime loss to Southern Utah.

For the week, Penney recorded four points on two assists and a game-winning goal.

On the season, the Laguna Beach, Calif. native, is has tallied six points for second-best on the team on two goals and two assists.  

"Holden has continued to get better every game this season and I am looking for her to have a breakout season next year," said Evans.

Receiving this honor alongside Penney was league competitor, Shelby Ostler of Southern Utah this week.

This honor is the first for the Centenary women's soccer team this season and second for the College as senior Heath Cox of the Gents soccer team earned the recognition earlier this season.
