PREVIEW: Volleyball Travels to IUPUI, WIU this Weekend

SHREVEPORT-Looking for its first league win, the Centenary volleyball team will hit the road for two contests as its first stop is at IUPUI on Friday for a 6 pm CT contest, followed by a 7 pm match at Western Illinois on Saturday.

The Ladies enter with a record of 3-17 and a 0-12 mark against league opponents. Centenary is hoping to snap a 15-game skid during this weekend matchups.

Four Ladies have recorded over 100 kills to pace the team, led by junior Stevie Kaye with 191, followed by sophomore Shelby Singleton with 128, senior Bethany Kern with 111, and junior Jaclyn Lopez with 106.

Also contributing on the offensive end every contest is junior setter Caitlin Neese with 301 assists, while Lopez has 26 service aces.

Defensively, the Ladies are paced by Lopez with 182 digs, while Kaye adds 140 to the mix. Singleton has been a part of 49 blocking efforts, including 11 block solos.

IUPUI will host Centenary with a 6-19 record and a 5-8 mark in league play. The Jaguars are coming off a 3-0 loss to No. 21-ranked Cincinnati. Leading the offensive attack for IUPUI is Kalyse Reimbold with 240 kills and 29 service aces.

Setter Alexis Meeks adds 715 assists to the mix, while Shari Bernhardt contributes with 481 digs on the defensive end.

Centenary and IUPUI met earlier this season when the Jaguars defeated the Ladies in three sets.

Following Friday's contest, Centenary will travel to Western Illinois, who meets Oral Roberts first. The Fighting Leathernecks are just 6-16 overall and 2-11 in Summit League play.

Allison Gilbert leads the team with 235 kills, while Heather Smith adds 512 assists. Defensively, Bridget Murphy has 285 digs.

Western Illinois took the earlier season match over Centenary, 3-0 in Shreveport.

The Ladies will return home to host UMKC and Southern Utah next weekend for their home finale weekend.
