PREVIEW: Final Home Game for Gents Soccer Set for Saturday

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's soccer team is slated to play its final home game of the 2010 season on Saturday against IPFW beginning at 7 pm on Mayo Field.

The Gents are coming into the weekend contest with a 1-5-2 overall record and a 0-1-2 mark in league play. Centenary fell in its last contest, 3-0 to league-leader IUPUI on the road.

With four goals and eight points this season, senior Heath Cox paces the Gents offense, while junior Marcos Rodriguez follows with two assists and one goal for four points.

Senior goal keeper Rennie Walker has started all eight contests this season, tallying 39 saves for a .765 save percentage. Sophomore reserve keeper Robbie Ramirez has seen action of late, garnering six saves and earning his first shutout in the win over HBU on Oct. 16.

IPFW enters the game with a 2-12-1 record and a 0-4 mark in league play. The squad has not recorded a win since its 1-0 victory over Milwaukee on Sept. 14.

Of the 17 goals scored this season by the Mastodons, Max Touloute has recorded eight goals and one assist for 17 points. He is followed by Andy Masteller with eight points on four goals.

In goal for IPFW this season is Donovan Dowling, who has seen action in 13 of the 15 contests. He has tallied 58 saves for a .659 save percentage.

Centenary took a 1-0 win over IPFW last season on a goal by junior Tate McIntyre from Cox.

Following the home finale, Centenary will play its final regular season contest on the road at Oakland on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1 pm.
