WIU Takes Three Straight Sets from Ladies

MACOMB, Ill.-The Centenary volleyball team battled another feisty league opponent in Western Illinois, falling 3-0 on Saturday evening.

The Ladies fell in set one 25-14, set two 25-22, and set three 25-16. With the loss, Centenary's recorded dropped to 3-19 overall and 0-14 against league opponents, while the Fighting Leathernecks improved to 7-17 overall and 3-12 in league play.

Centenary junior Stevie Kaye recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs as the Ladies produced a .099 attack percentage. Junior Jaclyn Lopez added nine kills, while sophomore Shelby Singleton chipped in with eight and an impressive .462 percentage.

Freshman setter Bethany Nuttall contributed with 19 assists and two service aces.

Defensively, Kaye led with 10 digs, followed by nine digs.

Western Illinois used a team-.286 attack percentage to out hit the Ladies 37-33 in kills.

Centenary will return home to host UMKC on Friday at 7 pm, followed by Southern Utah on Saturday at 7 pm in the Gold Dome. The Ladies will honor its three seniors Bethany Kern, Bonnie Matak, and Michaela Berg during pregame ceremonies on Friday.
