SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team will conclude the 2010 home slate when it hosts UMKC on Friday at 7 pm and Southern Utah on Saturday at 7 pm in the Gold Dome.

The volleyball squad, under first-year head coach Jon Stenman, will recognize seniors Bethany Kern, Bonnie Matak and Michaela Berg and their contributions to the program prior to the start of Friday's contest.

Centenary enters the weekend with a 3-19 overall record and a 0-14 mark against league opponents. The Ladies are coming off two tough road losses against IUPUI and Western Illinois last weekend, as they dropped both, 3-0.

Still searching for its first Summit League win this season, Centenary is also looking to snap a 9-game skid where the team has been swept, 3-0.

Leading the way offensively for the Ladies is junior Stevie Kaye with 215 kills on 660 attacks. She is followed by sophomore Shelby Singleton with 138 and a team-best .279 attack percentage. Kern and junior Jaclyn Lopez contribute with 123 and 116 successful kills, respectively.

Junior setter Caitlin Neese powers up the offensive attack with 327 assists, while freshman Bethany Nuttall chips in with 218.

Defensively, Lopez paces the squad with 195 digs and leads four Ladies with at least 100. Singleton has been a part of 50 blocking efforts, including 39 block assists.

UMKC will meet Centenary on Friday with an 8-18 overall record and a 5-9 mark in league play. The Kangaroos are coming off a three-game skid where they dropped matches to NDSU and SDSU.

Three players have notched over 200 kills for UMKC, led by Elizabeth Beck with 261. Ella Meier paces the team with 514 assists, while Nicole Kerkman has 396 digs to her name.

Following Friday's contest, the Ladies will host Southern Utah, who is coming off a 3-1 loss to non-conference foe, North Dakota on Monday. The Thunderbirds are 11-13 overall and 9-5 in league play and will play at Oral Roberts prior to meeting the Ladies.

Southern Utah is led offensively by Analaine Pelaez with 374 kills and 3.98 kills per set. Setter Brittney Clark has tallied 909 assists, while Caitlin Jenson adds a team-best 386 digs on the defensive end.

Centenary and Southern Utah met earlier this season in Cedar City, Utah on Sept. 16 as the Ladies fell 3-0 to the Thunderbirds.
