PREVIEW: Gents Soccer Faces Crucial Game in Regular Season Finale

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's soccer team will hit the road for its final regular season contest at Oakland on Saturday with a Noon CT kick off time in Rochester, Mich.

The Gents, who enter Saturday with a record of 2-6-2 overall and 1-2-2 in league play are looking for one win to clinch a spot in next week's Summit League Championship.

Centenary is coming off an exciting 2-0 home finale win over IPFW on Saturday as senior Heath Cox netted both of the Gents second-half goals and junior Tate McIntyre contributing with both assists.

For his strong offensive effort, Cox was tabbed as Summit League's Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Offensively, the Gents have totaled nine goals this season as six have come off the foot of Cox. McIntyre paces the team with three assists and has one goal, while junior Marcos Rodriguez follows with one goal and two assists.

Senior goal keeper Rennie Walker has played 792 minutes in goal and has appeared in all 10 contests. Walker recorded his first season shutout against the Mastodons and improved his record to 1-5-2. He has made 47 saves in goal this season for a .758 save percentage.

Oakland will meet non-conference foe Detroit on Wednesday, before hosting Centenary on Saturday. The Golden Grizzlies own a 4-9-3 overall record and a 1-1-3 mark in league play.

Leading the way with two goals and one assist for five points is Miche'le Lipari, while Makesi Lewis and Johnny Dreshaj each have two goals.

Goal keeper Mitch Hidlebrandt has played in all 16 contests, making 79 saves for a .775 save percentage.

Centenary and Oakland met last season when the Golden Grizzlies defeated the Gents 1-0 off a penalty kick in the 63rd minute.
