PREVIEW: Volleyball Set to Play Final Road Games

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team will wrap up its 2010 season on the road this weekend as the Ladies travel to North Dakota State on Friday and South Dakota State on Saturday, both contests set to begin at 7 pm.

The Ladies enter the weekend with a 3-21 overall record and a 0-16 mark against Summit League opponents. In its final weekend, Centenary is still searching for its first league win.

Offensively, junior Stevie Kaye paces the team with 237 kills and 3.08 kills per set, while sophomore Shelby Singleton follows with 151 and a team-best.279 attack percentage.

Junior setter Caitlin Neese contributes with 351 assists, while freshman Bethany Nuttall adds 243 to the offensive attack.

Defensively, junior Jaclyn Lopez records a squad-high 220 digs, followed by Kaye with 164.

North Dakota State, who currently sits second in league standings will enter the weekend with a 16-10 overall record and a 12-4 mark against league foes. Chrissy Knuth leads the offensive game with 271 kills, while Brynn Joki adds 2.75 kills per set for a team-high and an impressive 62 service aces.

Setter Jordan Kissman provides the offense with 666 assists, while Lauren McLaughlin, defensively leads with 341 digs.

Centenary and North Dakota State met earlier this season in the Gold Dome as the Bison defeated the Ladies, 3-1. The lone set win for Centenary was the only one won during league play so far this season.

South Dakota State will host Oral Roberts before Centenary makes the trip to Brookings, SD. Prior to the weekend, SDSU owns a 14-13 record and a 10-6 league record. The Jacks are led by Ellyce Youngren with 327 kills on 1000 total attacks. Thyele Rechatiko has recorded 1063 assists for the SDSU.

Shay Birath leads the team with 504 digs, while Kelly Fiegen has 128 blocks.

Centenary and South Dakota State met back on Sept. 24 in the Gold Dome. The Jacks recorded a 3-0 win over the Ladies.
