PREVIEW: Gents Travel to ULM for Saturday Contest
Thursday, December 9, 2010

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's basketball team will look to garner its first win this season when it travels to ULM on Saturday. Tip-time is set for 6 pm CT in Monroe, La.

LAST TIME OUT
The Centenary men's basketball team wasn't able to fend off a competitive Arkansas-Monticello team late, falling 71-62 on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.

TROTMAN TRIGGERS UP DOUBLE-DISH
Jeron Trotman recorded his second career double-double, scoring 19 points and pulling down 14 rebounds as both were career-bests for the forward. He surpassed his previous high of 13 points which came at IPFW on Feb. 6, 2010. His two-year high rebound total was 11, which came earlier this season against UAM (11/17).

LOGAN LOGS CAREER-BEST AT UAM
Freshman Logan Lowery scored 16 points in just 17 minutes of play for the Gents at UAM on Tuesday. The guard shot an impressive 6-of-10 from the floor and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Lowery's previous high was 15 points against Northwestern State (11/22).

THREE TIMES IN A ROW
Centenary has held its team turnover total to a minimum the last three contests. The Gents have managed to finish with just 12 turnovers for a season-low. The mistake column has gradually decreased over the last few games as they have recorded 12 four times this season.

As a team, the Gents are averaging 18.3 turnovers a game.

THE LONE ONE
Against UAM on Tuesday, Centenary shot a low 8 percent from the three-point line on a 1-of-12 effort. The Gents struggled to find the bottom of the net in the second half, firing off five unsuccessful attempts. Before that outing, Centenary was averaging five three pointers a game. That performance was the lowest of the season, but it still allowed Centenary to play all 10 games with a long ball made.

HUSTLIN' HARWELL
Freshman Aaron Harwell has showcased hustle from the guard position in key defensive roles for Centenary this season. Used for 16 minutes at UAM, Harwell forced the Boll Weevils into two turnovers with two steals and provided the Gents needed spark at the top of the key late in the game. Harwell is tied for third-best on the team with seven steals and averages just over nine minutes a game.

SWATTING SOPHOMORE
Jeron Trotman has used his 6'6" frame to tally 14 swats from the defensive end this year. The forward blocked 18 shots a year ago in limited action, but having proved to be a key inside force for the Gents, he is on his way to surpassing his debut season. Trotman is just 15 blocks away from cracking the Top 10 All-Time with 47.

SCOUTING ULM
ULM enters Saturday contest with a 2-7 record and is looking to snap a four-game skid. The Warhawks are coming off a 67-58 loss at Louisiana Tech.

Fred Brown leads the team 16.4 ppg, while Hugh Mingo, Tommie Sykes, and Lawrence Gilbert each have knocked down 11.6 a game. Sykes paces the team with 7.3 rebounds a game.

SERIES HISTORY
Centenary and ULM will meet for the 33rd time on Saturday in Monroe, La. The Gents hold a 19-13 edge over the Warhawks heading into the weekend contest. The two teams met once last season as Centenary earned a 94-84 win over ULM in the Gold Dome. Roman Tubner scored 23 points, tallied eight assists and pulled down a team-high six boards.
