Sunday, December 12, 2010
SHREVEPORT-Senior Ashley Jackson recorded her eighth career double-double and three other Ladies scored in double figures, however the Centenary women's basketball team faced a season-best performance by UL-Lafayette, falling 90-74, on Sunday in non-conference action.

The Ladies (0-8) offensive effort gave way to their highest scoring contest of the year.  Sophomore Ne-Ne Cook led Centenary with 17 points.  Junior Megan Daniel notched a career-high 14 points, while senior Anne Farrell added 14 as well.

Jackson contributed with 12 points off the bench and pulled down a career-tying 13 boards.

Centenary played well throughout the majority of the first half, trading baskets with the Ragin' Cajuns, until an 8-2 run by UL late in the first half that gave it momentum throughout the final 20 minutes of play.

Each team exchanged leads five times during the opening half.  Centenary would see its largest lead at four (10-6) at the 15:53 mark when Cook's layup was good for two.

With 5:35 left to play, Farrell's jumper tied the game for the final time of the game at 26-26 before UL finished with its strong offensive run to go up by 10 (43-33) at half.

After a consistent offensive effort in the beginning of the second half by both teams, UL was able to remain in control.  Freshman Kat Vidovic's three-pointer, followed by two made free throws from Jackson would narrow the score within nine (62-53) at 12:17, the closest Centenary would come.

Missed opportunities by the Ladies allowed the Ragin' Cajuns to gain its largest lead at 24 (88-64) with 2:44 left to play.  A 26-11 run by UL within the second half challenged the Ladies during those minutes.

Centenary shot 42 percent (25-59).  The Ladies connected on 9-of-21 for 43 percent from behind the three-point line, led by Daniel and Cook who combined for seven.

The Ladies shot well from the free-throw line at 75 percent (15-20).

UL was better from the field at 55 percent (36-65).  Jasmine Barnes led with a game-high 21 points.

Centenary was out-rebounded 37-33.  Behind Jackson's 13 was Farrell with seven.

Turnovers proved costly as the Ladies committed 27 to UL's 20.

The Ladies will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 18th at 2 pm against Southeastern La. in the Gold Dome.
