"Full Court Press" w/ Coach K
Thursday, December 30, 2010
Hi Centenary supporters.  I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas.  We've had quite long break.  We finally got back to practice on December 26th.  The first practice after Christmas break is always tough.  We did a variety of full court drills with lots of sprinting involved.  It's always easy to pick out the ones that didn't workout on their own while they were home.  You don't realize how quick cardio conditioning can go away.  Some of the players sure found out on the December 26th.

Thankfully, Sarah is finally back.  She has been out since November with a back injury.  We're all excited for her return.  Sarah is a post player that is capable of doing a variety of things for us.  Now we have 8 active players.  Vashni is still out with a knee injury and we can't wait to get her back.

We had a home conference game for our first contest after the break.  We played Oakland University last night.  We did well in the first half.  We played together and did a much better job rebounding and getting ourselves second chance opportunities.   We were down by ten at the half.  We needed to come out the second half and go on a run and get defensive stops.  The first 4 minutes of the second half were the worst of the game for us.  We didn't get key rebounds and started watching on defense instead of being active.  Oakland did a great job of cutting and flashing to the basket and we never jumped to the ball like we were supposed to do.  Again, our mental mistakes were a key factor in the game for us.

Now our focus turns to IPFW.  We face them Friday night at 5 pm in the Gold Dome.  In the next blog, I'll be able to give you updates about Friday night's game, as well as our game at McNeese State University on January 3rd.

Thank you so much for all the support you give our women's basketball team.  Hope you like the quote for the week.
