Gym Talk: Makensie Lant
Tuesday, January 4, 2011
Hey everyone!  Senior Makensie Lant here for this week's GymTalk.  It's official...competition season is here!!! We have our first home meet this upcoming Saturday Jan. 8th at 7:00 pm in the Gold Dome! We've worked so hard over this past semester to be ready to show all of our fans what we're made of. The sweat, chalk, blood, laughs and tears is all for this; putting on a performance for ourselves and our fans.

The Ladies just got back from a fantastic Christmas break! Being at home seeing our families and friends and of course still keeping up with our workouts is an amazing feeling, even though we all get a little sad because we miss our gymnastics family so much!! On a personal note it was definitely an exciting and emotional break for me because I am a senior. It was very weird knowing that going into my club gym to workout was the last time I would ever be in there doing gymnastics during a break!! It definitely made me realize that my senior year/last year of gymnastics is almost over.  It was also the last time I had to say goodbye to my family - annnnnd the last time my friend had to help me pack up my messy room to bring everything back to Shreveport with me. Definitely bittersweet!! I also got to see my boyfriend for the first time in 7 months, he is in the United States Army and will be deploying to Afghanistan in February.  He makes me realize we shouldn't take anything for granted, especially when it comes to gymnastics; for that matter, we should appreciate and use any God given talent or ability on a day to day basis.

If you are in the Shreveport area on Saturday the Ladies expect to see you at the Gold Dome!!! We are working our hardest to give everyone the best gymnastics they have ever seen!!!  Be prepared to have your breath taken away!
