Three-Pointers Not Enough for Ladies in Loss at NDSU

FARGO, ND-The Centenary women's basketball team faced several career-highs from the North Dakota State Bison, as it fell 94-55 on Saturday evening in Summit League action.

The Ladies (0-12, 0-5 Summit) had two players reach double-figures as junior Megan Daniel tied her career-high with 14 points on 4-of-5 from behind the three-point arc, while sophomore Ne-Ne Cook followed with 12 points.

North Dakota State jumped out to a 7-0 lead and held Centenary scoreless for the first two minutes of play. Cook's jumper at the 18:24 mark put the Ladies on board.

The Bison continued to build on its early lead with a 6-0 run to pull ahead by 10 (14-4). Senior Ashley Jackson scored the next four points for the Ladies, which sparked a 7-2 tilt in favor of Centenary as freshman Kat Vidovic drained her first three of the night to make it a five-point game (18-13).

Centenary was faced with 10 unanswered points by North Dakota State during a two-minute span to build a 28-13 lead. Vidovic and Daniel each hit two more three pointers and Jackson contributed with a layup late in the half to keep the game within reach.

However a 9-3 run finished the first half off for the Bison with a 46-32 lead.

North Dakota State came out strong in the second half, compiling a 10-2 run to challenge the Ladies in the early going. The Bison went up by 30 (76-46) with 8:44 left to play and Centenary wasn't able to respond to the offensive prowess.

The Ladies were faced with a career night by North Dakota State's Abby Plucker, who poured in 27 points and pulled down 16 boards for a double-double.

Centenary shot just 32 percent (18-56) from the field. The Ladies did fire off seven treys in 12 attempts for an impressive 58 percent from behind the three-point line. Behind Daniel and Cook in scoring was Vidovic with nine points on a perfect 3-of-3 effort from deep.

Freshman Tandrea Shamblin and Jackson each added six, while senior Sarah Weiler contributed with five.

North Dakota State shot 54 percent (37-68) from the floor.

The Bison out rebounded the Ladies 51 to 28.

Centenary will return to action on Monday at South Dakota State, beginning at 7 pm CT.
