Wednesday, January 19, 2011
SHREVEPORT-The Centenary gymnastics team looks to build on its 2011 opener as it travels to Norman, Oklahoma on Friday to take on Oklahoma, Denver, and Oregon State at 7 pm.

The Ladies (0-1) are still looking for their first win under second year head coach Gretchen Goerlitz as they plan to face three Top-ranked squads this weekend.

"Competing at OU against Denver and Oregon State is a great opportunity for my team to be in an arena with some top notch gymnastics," said Goerlitz.

Centenary opened the season, hosting TWU on Jan.8 in the Gold Dome.  The Ladies fell 190.625-183.85 and were led by senior Marisa Schneider, who tied for first on Floor with a 9.675 and tied senior teammate Makensie Lant on Bars with a score of 9.625.

"As far as the upcoming meet is concerned, I know my team if physically ready.  We did more conditioning, strength training, and focused on getting a lot of good numbers in last week because we had a bye weekend.  This week we are continuing to work on our mental game, and I am hoping the team is ready by Friday night," said Goerlitz.

The Ladies will be on the road the following weekend, Sat., Jan. 29 at TWU, before returning home to host SEMO on Friday, Feb. 4 for Homecoming and Senior Night at 7 pm.
