PREVIEW: Swimming Hosts Final Home Meet; Seniors to Be Honored on Saturday
Tuesday, January 25, 2011
SHREVEPORT-The Centenary swimming teams will host its final home meet of the season as the Ladies and Gents welcome UNO and OBU to Haynes Fitness Center on Saturday for a 2 pm meet start.

"This is a very important time in our season.  We are beginning to build up to conference so this meet will serve as a great barometer for where we are right now.  We are doing a lot of high quality work and we will try to make this meet part of that," said Jordan.

This meet will mark the first for the squads since the year turned 2011.  Centenary's last meet came in November at the Trinity Shootout in Dallas, Texas. The Gents earned second place honors, while the Ladies grabbed fourth place.

"OBU is one of the best DII swim programs in the country and are consistently in the Top 10 so we know they are very good.  We swam them in an invitational earlier in the season and we won the meet in the last relay so we expect a great meet.  They are well coached and they will be ready.  UNO is in a difficult time with their transition from DI to DIII and they lost several key athletes, but we expect a competitive competition," said Jordan.

Both teams are coming off a holiday training trip in Florida, preparing them for a competitive Summit League Championship held February 16-19 in Indianapolis, Ind.

"We are a long way from being ready but we are on schedule for a fast championship. We feel our preparation is on the right track.   We always want to swim at our best at conference but this is our last Summit League Championship so we want to leave the conference with a bang," said Jordan.

Centenary will honor its seniors on Saturday as the Ladies roster two in Lauren Kloepfer and Ruth Litwinowitz. The Gents representing the senior class are Matt Blam, John Cefalu, Matt Harris, Aaron Otto, and Josh Pena.

"Of course we are hoping to see our usual big, loud crowd at the meet.  We don't get very many opportunities to swim at home and we really appreciate the support we get here.  We will be recognizing our graduating seniors in their last home meet and that is certainly a special event for us," said Jordan.
