Thursday, January 27, 2011
SHREVEPORT-After a solid performance at OU's Quad Meet last Friday, the Centenary gymnastics team prepares to hit the road once again to compete in a quad meet at TWU on Saturday at 7 pm in Denton, Texas.

Centenary will face TWU, Winona State and Hamline.

"We are looking forward to the opportunity to compete in another quad meet as well as traveling to TWU which is nice and close for us," said head coach Gretchen Goerlitz.

The Ladies posted its best score of the season with a 187.625 team score. Centenary was led by senior Marisa Schneider in every event, despite earning any Top 3 honors. Schneider earned a career-best 38.600 as an All-Around competitor.

"After a much improved second competition, we are looking for another large stride forward this weekend.  I am happy with the team's improvement and know they are capable of even more - I'm looking forward to this showing in competition," said Goerlitz.

Centenary will meet TWU for the second time this season as the Pioneers met the Ladies in the Gold Dome on Jan. 8 in Centenary's home opener. TWU defeated the Ladies, 190.625 to 183.850.

"More than anything else, my team is more confident than the first time we competed against TWU this season!"

Centenary and TWU are prepared to meet three times this year.

Following Saturday's meet, Centenary will return home to host SEMO on Friday, Feb. 4 at 7 pm in the Gold Dome as part of the Ladies and Gents homecoming celebration.
