Gents Tennis Falls in Opener at UTA

ARLINGTON, Texas-The Centenary men's tennis team dropped its 2011 opener to UT-Arlington on Friday, 5-0, despite a valiant effort all-around.

Jonathan Threadgill played as the Gents No. 1 player, but was defeated by the Mavericks' Yauheni Yakauleu, 6-4, 6-2. Sibling Micah Threadgill fell as the No. 2 to Erik Hjertonsson, 6-2, 6-3.

Garrett Whipple dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match to Nicholas Moreno in the No. 3 spot, while Evan Magill fell 6-1, 6-0 to Brievc Hamon in the No. 4 position.

In doubles action, the Threadgill brothers dropped their 8-0 contest, while Whipple and Magill and Sam Grace and Michael Reeks also fell 8-0.

Centenary will be back in action at home on March 3, hosting Univ. of the Ozarks at 3 pm.
