Gents Tennis Drops 5-3 Contest to Univ. of Mobile; Grace, Reeks Lead Way

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's tennis displayed its best all-around effort on Saturday when two individuals and doubles team each recorded victories, despite falling as a team, 5-3 to the University of Mobile.

The Gents (0-2) had solid performances in singles action by Sam Grace with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Billy Musgrove and Michael Reeks with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Clint Key as the No. 5 and No. 6 players.

The duo teamed up to win their doubles match as well, defeating Beau Bryars and Preston Smith, 8-1.

Playing as Centenary's No. 1 player, Jonathan Threadgill was edged 6-4, 6-3 to Guilherme Lorencon. Garrett Whipple in the No. 3 spot earned a set victory, 6-2, but would fall 6-4, 6-4 to Lucas Martins and Evan Magill dropped his singles match, 6-3, 6-2 to Jesus Urmeneta.

The Threadgill brothers teamed up in doubles play, but were defeated 8-6 to Urmeneta and Enzo Correa, while Whipple and Magill were dropped 8-4 b y Lorencon and Martins.

Centenary will host University of the Ozarks on March 3 at 3 pm at the Centenary Tennis Complex.
