Gents Tennis Earn First Team Win of Season

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's tennis team captured its first dual match win on Tuesday in a 6-1 victory over future ASC opponent, LeTourneau.

The Gents (1-2) were dominant in almost all aspects on the afternoon, tallying five singles wins and two doubles wins.

Despite taking his competition to three sets, Micah Threadgill defeated Uli de la Fuente, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Garrett Whipple earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Josh Bailey, while Sam Grace defeated Ben Albers, 6-2, 6-3.

Also earning wins in singles action was Evan Magill over Josh Millet, 6-1, 6-0 and Michael Reeks over Kyle Lippe, 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles play, Jonathan Threadgill teamed up with his brother Micah to earn an 8-4 win over Carlos Cantu/Albers. Grace/Reeks also were victorious over their competition, Millet/Michael Vandergrifft with an 8-4 win.

Centenary will return to action on March 3 when it hosts Univ. of the Ozarks at 3 pm.
