Summit League and Centenary Athletics Team Up to Fight Hunger
Wednesday, February 23, 2011
SHREVEPORT-The Centenary Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has teamed up with The Summit League to initiate its annual "Food Fight", a league-wide drive that works closely with the organization, Students Team Up To Fight Hunger (STUFH).

The Summit League has designated 10 men's games and 10 women's games with each school having exactly one week to collect food and/or cash donations and two weeks if the date features both a men's and women's basketball game.

Centenary has been selected to host its drives on Saturday, February 26 during the double-header basketball game against IUPUI beginning at 2 pm. Fans will be admitted into the games free of charge if:

Adults bring 5 cans

Students bring 4 cans

Kids bring 3 cans

Centenary students who bring 4 canned goods will receive a spirit item from the Student Government Association (SGA).

Fans may give cash donations in place of canned food items.

All donations will be collected in the upper level of the Gold Dome near the ticket booths on each day. In an effort to support the Shreveport community, all received canned items and cash donations will be given to the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana.

At the end of the Food Fight schedule, the school that raises the most amount of food, measured in pounds, will be deemed the winner and will receive The Summit League Food Fight trophy.

"This is a great effort by our league's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for a worthy endeavor," said Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple.
