ELMHURST, Ill.-Centenary men's golfer Cannon Earp was named Summit League Co-Golfer of the Week after firing a two-round 144 (74-70) at the Doyle Wallace Classic hosted by Henderson State and helping the Gents to a fifth place finish as a team.

The Crockett, Texas native collects his first career award after joining Centenary last season from Hill College. The senior shot a two-under 70 in the final round on Tuesday for a career-best to finish in a tie for fifth overall.

Earp has played in 13 rounds this season as the last two were the first during the Spring season.

His previous Centenary career-low came last season in a 72 effort at the HBU Invitational. This finish was his third career Top 20 finish and first Top 10 finish.

Earp joined Southern Utah's Jeff Evans as this week's Summit League Golfers of the Week.

"I have been working on convincing him that the only thing wrong with his game is some mental stability on the course and with this finish, it shows he has what it takes to compete at this level," said head coach Emlyn Aubrey.

Centenary will return to action on March 27 in the Donnie Wilhite College-Am, before hosting the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate on March 28-29 at the Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City, La.
