Tennis Handed Loss at UT-Tyler

TYLER, Texas-The Centenary men's and women's tennis teams were handed 9-0 losses to UT-Tyler on Friday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Gents (2-3) saw strong play from No. 2 player, Micah Threadgill as he garnered a set one win, 6-4, but would later fall 7-5 and 10-3. Jonathan Threadgill dropped his singles match, 6-2, 6-2, while Garrett Whipple (6-3, 6-0),  Sam Grace (6-2, 6-1), Evan Magill (6-0, 6-1) and Michael Reeks (6-2, 6-2) all fell in their respective contests.

In doubles action, the Threadgill duo was edged 8-5, while Magill/Whipple (8-2) and Reeks/Grace (8-5) dropped their matches.

The Ladies (0-4) struggled to produce any offensive momentum as Isadora Bickham (6-0, 6-1), Holden Penney (6-0, 6-1), Michelle Gaubert (6-1, 6-0) and Catlin Orschel (6-1, 6-1) all were dropped in their singles matches.

Penney/Bickham and Gaubert/Holly Clark teamed up for doubles play, but both teams loss 8-1.

UT-Tyler women are ranked 23rd nationally in DIII.

The Ladies will host LSUS on March 8 at 1:30 pm, while the Gents will return to action against Summit League play on March 26 in Macomb, Ill.
