SHREVEPORT-Centenary student-athletes, coaches, administrative staff and supporters of the College gathered for an evening dinner to jump start the 2011-12 year on Thursday evening in the Gold Dome.

Opening remarks by new Director of Athletics, Dr. William Broussard, kicked off the event.

"Seeing you [student-athletes] all here together really makes me excited about the season ahead," said Broussard. "I am extremely impressed with the turnout tonight and it's my pleasure to officially welcome you all back to Centenary."

The evening continued with recognition to those who are also a part of the Centenary Athletics family in Scott Rawles, VP of Advancement, Dr. Mike Hemphill, Provost of the College, and Dr. David Hoaas, Faculty Athletics Representative.

Centenary Athletics also applauded long-time Ladies and Gents supporter, Rev. "Wishy" Nolan, who blessed the food.

Centenary will officially kick off the 2011-12 year with a home opening double-header soccer event on Thursday, Sept. 1 on Mayo Field. The Ladies begin at 5 pm, followed by the Gents at 7 pm.
