Softball to Play Four Fall Games, Saturday at BPCC
Wednesday, September 14, 2011

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary softball team will take one day this fall and play four unofficial games as part of the BPCC Fall Tournament, beginning Saturday at 8 am against BPCC at Meadowview Park in Bossier City, La.

Following the Ladies 8 am game against BPCC, they will face Arkansas-Monticello at 2 pm, ULM at 4 pm, and wrap up the day in a 6 pm contest against Texarkana College.

"The team has been working hard the past three weeks. It is a challenge preparing newcomers for college softball games in three weeks, though we will use these fall games to see where we are and what we need to work on for the spring," said second-year head coach Mark Lambert.

All four games will not count towards Centenary's season record or official stats. The tournament includes: BPCC, Centenary, ULM, Arkansas-Monticello, Texarkana College, Grambling and Angelina College.

The Ladies welcome back six returners, including senior Second Team All-Summit League utility player Reggie Salvatore, seniors Leah Dark and Kalyn Harris. Also back is junior Jenny King and sophomores Lynsi Unruh and Nicole Warren.  Of the 16 rostered players, six hail from the Shreveport-Bossier area.

"The main thing I'm looking for this Saturday is the intensity and hustle. I will look to see how we react to game speed and making the new adjustments in the transition process from high school to college," said Lambert. "It should be a fun day."

All games will be played at Meadowview Park off of Shed Road in Bossier City, La. There is a gate fee of $5/adult and $3/student. A concession stand will be running all day.

The 2012 schedule will also be released soon.
