Saturday, September 17, 2011
SHREVEPORT-Junior Holden Penney's shot at the 102-minute mark in double-overtime provided the Centenary women's soccer team with a thrilling 1-0 win over Schreiner in the Ladies' ASC home opener on Friday afternoon on Mayo Field.

The Ladies improved to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in ASC play with the victory.

It took 102 minutes of play for either team to find the back of the net, though it was freshman Carly Slovensky's pass to Penney that gave way for the Golden Goal, Penney's fourth goal of the year. Penney took the pass from Slovensky inside the box and dribbled past a diving keeper to tap in for the win.

Centenary out shot Schreiner 18-9 on the afternoon. The Ladies were led by junior Allie Cortes with five shots, two on goal. Penney and freshman Hannah Pfannenstiel each had three shots, while junior Traci Lee added two.

Freshman goal keeper Brittaney Dunn played her sixth straight full game in goal, collecting six saves for the shutout win.

Centenary will host Texas Lutheran at 2 pm tomorrow on Mayo Field.
