Preview: Gents on Road in ASC Play for Next Two

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's soccer team will leave home for its first away weekend of conference play when it takes on the Wildcats of Louisiana College and the Choctaws of Mississippi College this weekend.

Action begins on Thursday evening at 7 pm in Pineville, La. when the Gents take on ASC opponent Louisiana College. Centenary will conclude on Saturday afternoon at Mississippi College in a 4 pm kick-off.

The Gents (3-1, 2-0 ASC) are coming off of an impressive weekend, outscoring ASC opponents Schreiner and Texas Lutheran by five goals to none. Freshman Kellan Klaus made his first collegiate goal, securing the win for the Gents against Schreiner, while four more Gents added goals to the weekend on Saturday against Texas Lutheran. Freshman Gabriel Zahm, junior Spencer Nickerson, and seniors Marcos Rodriguez and RB Asemine contributed each with a goal.

The Gents are outscoring its opponents 9-3 as well as taking 34 more shots (72-38) and nine more corners (22-13). Rodriguez is leading Centenary offensively with two goals and two assists. Senior Ben Barcelona and Zahm have each added a pair of goals to the mix as well. Junior keeper Robbie Ramirez has played 343 minutes thus far, making 15 saves and securing a record of 3-1 with one shutout. Sophomore Chase Duet has seen 16 minutes of action, making one save.

Louisiana College enters Thursday's match with a 1-1-3 record overall and a 0-1-1 record in conference action. The Wildcats have been outscored 3-6 over the first five games. LC suffered a loss to The University of the Ozarks and tied UT-Dallas in ASC play. Louisiana College will take on Mississippi College Tuesday at 4 pm at MC.

Mississippi College is 4-2 overall and 1-1 in ASC play. The Choctaws lost to UT-Dallas, but beat Ozarks in conference thus far. MC has outscored its opponents 10-9 in goals scored. MC will take on the Wildcats in its next competition.

Centenary will come back to Shreveport for a four-game home series when it takes on LeTourneau, ETBU, McMurry, and Hardin Simmons, all in conference play. The home stay will begin on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 pm with LeTourneau, followed by ETBU the following day at 7 pm as well.
