Rushing's Game-Tying Goal Not Enough for Ladies in 2-1 Loss

CLINTON, Miss.-Senior Candace Rushing's 63rd minute goal tied the Centenary women's soccer team up 1-1 against Mississippi College, but the Choctaws would go on to score one minute later to take a 2-1 win over Centenary in ASC play on Saturday afternoon.

The Ladies fell to 5-4 on the season with the loss.

Rushing netted her fourth goal of the season on a pass from junior Holden Penney, which tied the game at 1-1 at the 63-minute mark.

Mississippi College took the early lead with a first-half goal by Macey Lee to make it a 1-0 game heading into halftime. The Choctaws would later score the game-winner off the foot of Ana Hill at the 64-minute mark for the victory.

Freshman Brittaney Dunn played all 90 minutes in goal, making nine saves, but would suffer the loss, falling to 5-4.

Centenary was out shot 28 to 12 on the day. The Ladies were led by Rushing with four shots, two on goal. Penney and junior Traci Lee each tallied three shots, while junior Allie Cortes made two.
