Preview: Volleyball Set for Four-Game Road Trip

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary volleyball team is set for four games in Abilene, Texas this weekend when it takes part in the "ASC Dig Pink Cross-Over Challenge I". The Ladies are slated to play McMurry and Hardin-Simmons on Friday, followed by Concordia and Howard Payne on Saturday.

Centenary will battle McMurry at Noon and Hardin-Simmons at 5 pm on Friday and Concordia at 10 am and Howard Payne at 3 pm on Saturday.

The Ladies enter the weekend contests with a 5-5 overall record and a 1-4 stint against ASC opponents. Centenary has unfortunately dropped its last three contests, including two at home last weekend against UT-Dallas and UT-Tyler.

A LOOK AT STATS
Offensively, junior middle blocker Shelby Singleton leads the attack with 147 kills and 3.67 a set. Freshman Brooke Bahlinger follows with 98 kills, while senior Jaclyn Lopez adds 77. Senior setter Caitlin Neese has contributed with 302 total assists, while senior Taylor Gilmour has tallied a team-best 16 service aces.

Defensively, Singleton paces the team with 18 block solos and has been a part of 31 block assists. Gilmour has made 126 digs, while Lopez follows with 104.

A LOOK AT MCMURRY
McMurry has made an impressive showing thus far in 2011 with a 14-0 record to date. The War Hawks have coasted to five consecutive matches, defeating their opponents, 3-0. Their last win came in a 3-0 victory at Concordia.

A LOOK AT HARDIN-SIMMONS
Hardin-Simmons is 10-2 and 5-0 in ASC play heading into the weekend cross-over tournament. HSU will meet Mississippi College prior to Centenary on Friday. Its last win came in a 3-1 victory over Texas Lutheran.

A LOOK AT CONCORDIA
Concordia is 6-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play. The Tornados will meet Mississippi College on Friday before facing off against Centenary on Saturday. Concordia dropped its last match, 3-0 to undefeated McMurry.

A LOOK AT HOWARD PAYNE
Howard Payne is 5-8 and 1-4 in ASC play. The Yellow Jackets will play ETBU and Mississippi College prior to facing off with Centenary on Saturday. Howard Payne's last win came in a 3-0 victory over Sul Ross State last week.
