Ladies & Gents in 10th After Round One at SHSU

HUNTSVILLE, Texas-The Centenary men's and women's golf teams currently each sit in 10th place at Sam Houston State's Harold Funston Invitational after round one on Monday afternoon. The Ladies fired a 336, while the Gents a 302 on the par-71 course at Ravens Nest Golf Club.

The Ladies' 336 is 42 shots out of the lead with one round on Tuesday to go. Centenary was led by sophomore Sarah Bradshaw and junior Rachel Grinnell, who each shot a +11, 82 to sit in a tie for 31st.

Junior Justine Kemp's 84 puts her in a tie for 39th, while classmate Kyndal Rose (88) and sophomore Kylee Goldthorn (104) are tied for 51st and 58th overall.

Sam Houston State currently paces the women's field with a 294, while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Redlands are tied for second at 300.

The Gents' 302 puts them just 19 shots out of the lead with 18 holes to play. Centenary was led by freshman Jamie Gibson, who fired a career-best 72, +1 to sit in a tie for 10th. Gibson is only seven shots out of the lead.

Freshman Matt Delaney is tied for 24th after also firing a career-best 74. Classmate Hank Strickler's 77 puts him in a tie for 42nd, while freshmen Andres Forese (79) and John Sidery (80) are in 50th and t51st.

Oklahoma City sits in first place with a 283, while Sam Houston State is two shots back at 285 and in second, followed by Nicholls in third with a 287.

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8 am.
