AUSTIN, Texas-Senior Ryan Christianson netted the game-winner and assisted the first goal leading the Centenary's men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Concordia (TX) on Saturday evening in ASC play.

The Gents rebounded from a hard-loss on Thursday to improve their record to 8-3-1 overall and 7-2-1 in conference play with the victory tonight.

Concordia (TX) jumped on board first with a goal at the 27-minute mark in the first half, but composed and offensively-sound throughout, Centenary was able to respond quickly with a goal off the foot of senior RB Asenime just two minutes later. The goal came from a corner kick, finding Christianson, who assisted Asenime in tying the game at 1-1.

The two teams fought through a tied game and it took 20 minutes into the final half for a team to grab a lead. It was Centenary who notched the game-winner off a header by Christianson, his first goal of the season, assisted by senior Kyle Mehnert from a free kick at the 68-minute mark.

Junior goal keeper Robbie Ramirez notched his seventh win in goal, collecting seven saves in 90 minutes of work, which included a gutsy penalty kick save with two minutes to play, keeping the Gents on top.

Centenary out shot Concordia (TX) 19 to 16, led by Christianson and junior Spencer Nickerson with four shots apiece, while seniors Marcos Rodriguez and Asenime each tallied three.

Centenary will travel to Conway, Arkansas to take on non-conference foe, Hendrix, at 7 pm on Tuesday. The Gents will then return home to host Mary Hardin-Baylor and Howard Payne on Friday and Saturday at 6 pm on Mayo Field.
