CONWAY, Ark.-The Centenary men's soccer team earned a convincing 3-0 shutout win over non-conference foe Hendrix on Tuesday evening on the road. With the win, the Gents recorded their first winning season since 2002.

The Gents improved their overall record to 9-3-1 and are now just one win away from double-digit victories this season, having already secured a winning season with just four games left to play.

Centenary senior Tate McIntyre put the Gents on board after returning from a season-opening injury with his first goal of the season at the 21-minute mark on an assist by senior Marcos Rodriguez.

The Gents dominated the first half, maintaining most of the possessions and tallying 15 total shots, eight landing on goal to Hendrix's five total shots.

Junior Spencer Nickerson extended Centenary's lead to 2-0 on a fast break goal, his fourth of the season, assisted by senior Aaron Bergman 10 minutes into the second half.

Continuing to showcase its offensive prowess, Centenary freshman Brandon Heim's shot at the 74-minute mark found the back up the net to give the Gents a convincing 3-0 lead with 16 minutes to play in the contest on an assist by Rodriguez, his second of the night.

Junior goal keeper Robbie Ramirez played all 90 minutes in goal, collecting four saves and the win to improve to 8-3-1.

Centenary out shot Hendrix, 24 to 15. Nickerson tallied six shots, while senior Ryan Christianson and Rodriguez each fired off four. Of the Gents' 24 shots, Centenary sent 14 on goal.

"The team took on a new identity after suffering a bitter loss to UT-Tyler last week. They have renewed themselves a bit and focused on finding success they are capable of," said head coach David Orr.

"It was a great team win and it was awesome to add a 13th different goal scorer on the season in Tate McIntyre. I'm very proud of this win."
