Nakwaasah Pours in Career-Best 26 in 79-66 Fall at UT-Dallas

RICHARDSON, Texas-Senior Maxx Nakwaasah poured in a career-best 26 points to lead Centenary in scoring, despite falling 79-66 to ASC Favorite, UT-Dallas on Saturday afternoon.

The Gents fall to 0-1 on the year with the loss, while UT-Dallas improves to 2-0.

Nakwaasah surpassed his previous high of 24 points, which came twice and last against Western Illinois in the Gents' only win last season. He finished the afternoon, hitting 8-of-8 from the free throw line.

Centenary also saw two freshmen score in double-figures behind Nakwaasah as Daniel Allen added 11 and Caden Cheramie contributed with 10 points in their college debuts. Also scoring was freshman Saro Ntagha with nine, senior Matt Nichenko and freshman JaColby Hardin-Crawford with four each.
The Gents finished the afternoon, shooting 38 percent (23-61) from the floor and hit seven treys, led by Allen with three.
Centenary struggled a bit on the boards, pulling down just 29, led by Nakwaasah and Ntagha with six each. UT-Dallas pulled down 40.

The Gents only held one lead on the afternoon and that appeared as early as the 18-minute mark in the opening half. UT-Dallas went on a 13-2 run late in the first half to pull ahead by 19, but a three by Allen in the final seconds of the half sent Centenary down 35-22 into halftime.

After a Nichenko layup and an Allen three, Centenary narrowed the score within 10, but UT-Dallas stayed consistent on offense using a 15-2 run to extend its lead.

Nakwassah took control of the final minute of play, tallying 10 points on 5-for-5 from the free throw line.
Centenary and UT-Dallas tied the second half with 44 points apiece.

Centenary will return to action on Saturday, November 26 at Mary Hardin-Baylor in a 7:30 pm tip-off.
