Hello all.  Our women's basketball program has had a great week.  We had two home games this week and we won them both.  Thursday we played Texas Lutheran and Saturday we played Schreiner.  I was so proud of how the players played and got our first 2 wins at home.

Thursday's game against TX Lutheran was a battle the entire way through.  We knew their post players liked to stay close to the lane, so that would provide our post players a great opportunity to knock down some outside shots.  And we were able to do just that.  We are very fortunate that we have post players that are comfortable stepping outside the lane and knocking down big shots.  With our post players getting things rolling, that allowed our guards to get even more involved on the offensive end.  We ended up having 5 players score in double figures.  It was great having a balanced scoring approach and not relying on just one or two players to provide points.  The game was tight at the end and I was extremely proud of our players for holding on to the lead and getting the victory.

Saturday we faced off against Schreiner.  Thankfully we had another balanced scoring effort.  Our three point shot wasn't falling for us the way it normally does, so our long range shooters adjusted and became drivers and got themselves to the free throw line.  This game was big because we finally out rebounded a team both on the offensive end and the defensive end.

I really feel like we are finally starting to gain more confidence and believe in our system and each other.  We are trying to create a new tradition at Centenary, and this team is really taking pride in that.

We have 3 more games on the road and then we return home on December 19th against McNeese State at 7:00 pm.  We're doing a canned food drive so bring your canned goods and get in the game free.

Hope you enjoy the quote.
