Preview: Ladies Set for Road Trip

SHREVEPORT- The Centenary women's basketball team is looking to continue in its winning fashion as the Ladies prepare for two road games this weekend. Centenary will face Hardin-Simmons Thursday evening at 5:30 pm, followed by a Saturday afternoon contest at McMurry at 1:00 pm.

With the two wins last weekend, Centenary improved to 2-4 (2-3 conference play) on the season.

LAST TIME OUT
Junior Vashni Sharp-Moore recorded her first career double-double in a 16-point, 10-rebound effort to lead the Centenary women's basketball team to a convincing 66-52 win over Schreiner on Saturday in the Gold Dome.

A LOOK AT OVERALL STATS
Four Ladies are averaging in double figures so far this season. Daniel leads the way with 14.8 points, followed by Sharp-Moore with 13.8, Sanders with 13.2, and Warr with 10.7. Sanders leads Centenary in rebounds per game with 8.5, while Daniel heads the three-point category, shooting 37 (16-43) percent from deep. Warr is shooting 83 percent from the charity stripe, having hit 19 of her 23 attempts.

A LOOK AT HARDIN-SIMMONS
Hardin-Simmons enters Thursday's match-up with a record of 2-4 on the season and 1-3 in conference action. Hardin-Simmons' last win came on November 28th in a convincing (73-54) win over LeTourneau. Leading the way for the Cowgirls in points is junior Alexis Popelar, averaging 14 ppg. Hardin-Simmons is coached by Shanna Briggs. In her 10th season as head coach, Briggs rosters a large squad of 18 players.

A LOOK AT MCMURRY
McMurry will host fellow ASC opponent ETBU on Thursday evening before hosting the Ladies on Saturday afternoon. The War Hawks will go into their Thursday game with a record of 5-1 and 4-0 in conference. Most recently, the War Hawks ended UT-Dallas's win streak, defeating them 53-49. Carrying the War Hawks is sophomore Keshia Collins, averaging 16.2 points per game. She also is the leader in rebounds with 7.3 a game. The War Hawks are led by head coach Veronica Snow. Snow opened her season up this winter having posted a record of 80-31 in her four years prior at McMurry.

HISTORY
The Ladies will meet Hardin-Simmons and McMurry for the third time each in history this weekend. Both the Ladies and the Cowgirls have won one apiece in January of the 1982-83 season. Centenary leads the series with McMurry 2-0. The last time that the teams met was in January of 1984 when the Ladies defeated McMurry 71-37.
