Preview: Gents Back on Road for Two

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's basketball team hits the road once again after earning its first win of the season last Saturday. The Gents will travel to Abilene, Texas to take on Hardin-Simmons on Thursday at 7:30 pm and McMurry on Saturday at 3 pm.

The Gents improved to 1-4 on the year with a win over Schreiner and look to build on the momentum as it plays the next three contests on the road.

LAST TIME OUT
The Centenary men's basketball team used double-double efforts by seniors Maxx Nakwaasah (24 points, 15 rbs) and Matt Nichenko (12 points, 11 rbs) to earn its first win of the 2011-12 season in a convincing 70-52 victory over Schreiner on Saturday afternoon in the Gold Dome.

A LOOK AT OVERALL STATS
Centenary is led by senior Maxx Nakwaasah's 26.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg. Freshmen JaColby Hardin-Crawford (8.6 ppg), Tyler Wright (6.6 ppg) and Caden Cheramie (6.0 pgg) follow as each have played a significant role for the Gents in their debut season. Following on the boards in senior Matt Nichenko with 4.4 rpg and a team-best four blocks. As a team, Centenary is averaging 69 ppg and is shooting 39 percent from the floor.

COUNT IT DOWN FOR MAXX
Maxx Nakwaasah has excelled the last three seasons as the Gents' leading scorer and one of the top rebounders on the team as a small forward. The Dallas, Texas native is eyeing the 1,000 point club and 500 rebound club at Centenary in his final season.

A LOOK AT HARDIN-SIMMONS
Hardin-Simmons enters Thursday's contest with an unbeaten record at 5-0 and 4-0 against fellow ASC schools. The team is coming off an 87-79 road win at Ozarks last weekend. HSU is led offensively by Matt Addison's 30.0 ppg. He is followed by George Nelson with 10.2 ppg. Derrick Jefferson paces the team with 6.2 rpg.

HISTORY vs HARDIN-SIMMONS
Centenary and Hardin-Simmons will meet for the 53rd time in school's history on Thursday. Centenary currently owns the record at 35-17. The two teams first met back in 1948, but haven't played one another since 1990.

A LOOK AT MCMURRY
McMurry will play host to ETBU on Thursday before meeting Centenary in Abilene, TX on Saturday. The War Hawks ride a 5-1 record and a 3-1 mark in ASC play into Thursday's contest. McMurry is coming off its first loss of the year in a 96-84 fall to UT-Dallas on the road. Leading the way for McMurry's offense is Steven Jones' 17.8 ppg, while Dominick Walker pulls down 8.7 rpg.

HISTORY vs MCMURRY
Saturday's contest will be the first meeting in history between Centenary and McMurry.
