Preview: Ladies Set to Begin Hefty Home Slate

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary women's basketball team is gearing up for its longest home game stay beginning with Sul Ross on Thursday at 5:30 pm, followed by a Saturday afternoon game at 1:00 pm against Howard Payne.

The Ladies are currently 3-8 overall (3-5 conference play).

LAST TIME OUT
The Ladies concluded their non-conference portion of the 2011-12 schedule, falling 73-44 to Lamar on the road last Friday. Centenary was led by junior Jalena Sanders' 13 points and nine rebounds, one board shy of a double-double. Senior Megan Daniel added 11 in the effort, while freshmen Derrany Thomas and Dio Warr each contributed with six points off the bench.

A LOOK AT OVERALL STATS
Three Ladies are averaging in double figures so far this season. Megan Daniel is leading Centenary, scoring 14.5 points per game. Jalena Sanders is right behind Daniel with 13.2 ppg, followed by junior Vashni Sharp-Moore, averaging 11.8. Sanders continues to lead the Ladies in rebounding with 77 on the season. Sharp-Moore has pulled down 69. Daniel leads in the three-point column, making 27 from deep. The Ladies are outshooting their opponents in free-throw percentages, making 71 percent compared to their opponent's 69 percent.

A LOOK AT SUL ROSS
Sul Ross enters Thursday's contest with a record of 2-9 overall and 1-7 in conference action. The Lobos only ASC win was on the 8th of December, with a 77-74 win over UT-Tyler. Junior Krista Ford leads the Lobos in scoring, averaging 18.7 points per game. She is also leading the Lobos in rebounding with 6.8 rebounds a game.

A LOOK AT HOWARD PAYNE
The Yellow Jackets are currently 8-2 overall and 5-2 in ASC play. Howard Payne will meet ETBU on Thursday night before arriving on Saturday for tip-off. The Yellow Jackets are being led by Senior Brittany Roberson, scoring 14.4 points per game. She is also leading in assists on the season with 37. Senior Roshonda Gayden is leading Howard Payne in rebounds, averaging 7.5 per game.

HISTORY
The Centenary women's basketball team has never met either Sul Ross or Howard Payne in action. The Ladies will take on both the Lobos and the Yellow Jackets for the first time in Centenary history this Thursday and Saturday.
