SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's basketball is coming off of five straight home victories this month and will take their streak on the road this week, beginning with LeTourneau on Thursday at 7:30 pm and UT-Tyler on Saturday at 3 pm.

The Gents are one win away from evening their overall record to the .500 mark as they sit at 6-7 this season.

Senior Maxx Nakwaasah broke the all-time single game scoring record of 50 points previously held by Robert "The Chief" Parish back in 1972 when he poured in 51 points to lead the Centenary men's basketball team to a 95-78 win over ETBU on Monday in the Gold Dome. Monday's victory also improved Centenary's home record to 6-1 on the season. A 30-point loss a month ago to the Tigers on the road spearheaded an exciting and dominating performance by the Gents in the 17-point win in the ‘Dome. Behind Nakwaasah in scoring were sophomore Jonathan Blount's 15 points on three treys and freshman JaColby Hardin-Crawford's 11 points on three treys as well off the bench. Centenary shot an impressive 50 percent (32-64) from the floor and hit 16-of-27 from the three-point line for 59 percent. Sophomore Jairus Browning and Blount each led with five assists.

Maxx Nakwaasah has upped his scoring average to 27.2 ppg and adds a team-best 8.8 rebounds per game to the mix. He is followed in scoring by sophomore Jonathan Blount's 16.2 ppg. Freshmen JaColby Hardin-Crawford (7.8 ppg), Tyler Wright (6.2 ppg), and Caden Cheramie (6.2 ppg) have each added spark off the bench of late.

Centenary is averaging 75.1 ppg as a team, while allowing its opponents 79.3 ppg.

Maxx Nakwaasah has excelled during his four seasons as the Gents' leading scorer and one of the top rebounders on the team as a small forward. The countdown towards 1,000 points is over as Nakwaasah reached that milestone on Jan. 14, 2012. The countdown towards 500 rebounds is close:
Total Points: 1,058 (46 shy of becoming 25th all-time on scoring list)
Total Rebounds: 485 (15 shy of 500)
