Ladies Capture 3rd at Denver Gymnastics Meet

Denver, CO - The Centenary gymnastics team recorded a 187.250 to finish third in their Tri Meet on Saturday evening at the University of Denver.

Centenary (2-8) garnered second place in event scores on the Vault (47.675) while Sophomore Ciara Maradiaga set a personal best, finishing second on the Beam with a 9.825. Denver dominated the field, winning every event and totaling 194.400. Air Force followed in second with a 190.925.

On Vault, the Ladies were led by Amanda Holt with a score of 9.725. Moriah Marin of Denver's 9.850 captured first place. Behind Holt for Centenary was Jessica Lieblich with a 9.575 and Christy Martinez with a 9.550.

On Bars, Stephanie Wright paces the Ladies with a 9.600. Louise Mercer of Denver took first with a 9.550. Robyn Price followed Wright with a 9.350.

On Beam, Maradiaga's 9.825 led Centenary in second place, while Meg Crowley produced a solid 9.650. Jorie Hall of Denver's 9.900 garnered her top honors.

On Floor, Melody Smith scored a 9.575 to pace the Ladies with Crowley’s 9.550 right behind her. Hall and Simona Castro for Denver shared first with a score of 9.850.

Centenary's Jessica Lieblich placed seventh in the All-Around competition as the Ladies only competitor to compete in all four events. Lieblich notched a four-event total of 36.800. Castro of Denver scored a 39.200 to take first place.


Centenary returns to action on Friday, February 3rd when it travels to Norman, Okla. to take on Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Minnesota in a Quad-Meet at 7 pm.
