Hello Everyone! Sophomore Christine Langston here!

This week the Ladies had some really amazing, and tiring practices; we worked really hard and improved a lot of our skills. In all of our practices this week we focused on team-oriented assignments in order to put ourselves into more meet-like settings. As the week went on, we got better and better at our consistency, and, by our last practice before our meet, Thursday, we were knocking out the assignments together like they were nothing!

At our meet this past weekend against Texas Women's University, we had some really great routines and scores! The Ladies started on bars, where Freshman Christina Navarro had a wonderful routine. Senior Stephanie Wright also put up an amazing routine on bars. The Ladies then moved to vault where all of our vaults were huge, and we had our best event total score for the meet. We have been working hard on our twisting vaults, and some of us will be able to compete them soon! After vault we moved to floor; we had some great looking routines, especially from Junior Meg Crowley who did an amazing routine as our anchor on that event. Last, we moved to beam where Senior Lauren Carlton started us off with the best beam routine I, personally, have ever seen her do, scoring her personal best on that event! As a team we finished with our 2nd highest score of the year. The Ladies are happy with that, yet we are not quite satisfied; we know we can do so much better, and we won't stop fighting to get higher and higher scores with each meet!

This coming weekend we have our first home meet in the Gold Dome on Friday, February 17, at 6 p.m.  It is our breast cancer awareness meet, so everyone wear pink. The Ladies will be sporting their new pink leos!  It also happens to be Sophomore Tawnee Hadd's 20th Birthday.  Then we have off school the next week for our Mardi Gras break!  We will get to enjoy some good old Louisiana Mardi Gras festivities while we continue to train hard for our final three meets, all at home in the Gold Dome! Everyone come out and support your Ladies as we continue to improve! Thank you in advance to everyone who does, we love all of you and greatly appreciate the undying support!

Love,

Christine Langston
