Gents Battle But Lose to Choctaws 68-81

Clinton, MS - Gents battled hard during a competitive match-up at Mississippi College as they lost 81-68.

Centenary started off the game well forcing the Choctaws into back to back to back turnovers on their opening offensive possessions.

The Choctaws finally found rhythm as they began to pound the ball inside.  Choctaw’s Senior Chad Jones got himself to the free throw line knocking down both giving the Choctaws the lead (9 – 8).

Mississippi College would look back in the first half entering the half up 35 – 26 over the Gents.

Sophomore Jonathan Blount would give the Gents a boost of energy knocking down their first five points of the second half.

At the 17:04 mark freshman Isaiah Whitaker earned his way to the free throw line and knocked down both bring the Gents within six points of the Choctaws (33 – 39).

Unfortunately, Mississippi College was too much for the Gents as they fell 68-81 in Thursday night action.

Senior Maxx Nakwaasah reached another double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Blount connected of 7 of 15 to knock down 21 points for the Gents.

The Gents shot 40.6% (26-64) from the field and 78.6% (11-14) from the free throw line.

Up next Centenary will travel to Louisiana College for a 3 pm tip off in their final contest of the year on Saturday, February 18.
